Weeks 22 and 23 - Grand Slam - Roland Garros, France - Main Draw - Clay

Well done, Sonay

Score at 4-0 was a little harsh

Hope she relaxes a little more now

Yes, at 4-0 there had been about 15 deuce points (I lost count, but shedloads).

5-1* now...

Sonay breaks for 1-6, 2*-1

Don't think I've ever seen a more miserable looking player who is apparently winning than Bouzkova. She looks to be constantly on the brink of floods of tears.

She's got quite a big leg injury, apparently

Those are some sort of compression medical shorts that she's wearing

I think she's on a lot of painkillers

Not been watching until I popped in to see Sonay DF. But, particularly in the less serve orientated women's game and on clay, a succession of breaks in itself doesn't really say to me -  poor, let alone dreadful.

Sorry to hear that.

Six consecutive breaks now for 4-4.

Yes, it really wasn't great

Rather tentative, rather rabbit-in-the-headlights

But not the end of the world

Sonay is doing really well smile

It was the quality rather than just the breaks. It was like neither wanted to win

OK, thanks, yes seems not the greatest and an opportunity missed here for Sonay. Though in the grand scheme of things, as CD says, she is of course doing well and so much to be positive about.

Seemed like Sonay, having broken, was handing back the breaks with very uncharacteristic UEs, overhitting winners.

Shame, but Sonay saved four match points with some brave play - that's money in the bank for the future, mentally speaking.
Sonay does great defence; unfortunately, so did Bouzkova. Still fantastic progress :)
