Pretty hard to see anyone beating Iga this year if she continues to play at this level. Takes the first set 6-1. Emma fighting hard, but Iga is relentless.
Swiatek isn't even playing that well tbh, but Emma is hitting some UGLY errors. Swiatek has hit a few of her own. There was a drive volley that she again hit to the centre rather than going behind Iga, then Emma shanked the smash out. So many forehand errors long on basic shots.
Swiatek is winning the points that matter and yes she's also a little better in all departments than E so far but the thing is after watching the Emma that turned up at Indian Wells in March all lackluster and uninspired this is a huge improvement on that, at least she's giving it everything today.

I dont think Iga is a little better. The scoreline says she is a lot better. Bit different though when she faces a top 10 player who has the weapons to dismantle her now even on clay. Just shows still a way to go for Emma on clay, it is to be be expected. May be a lot closer on grass.

Yes, Iga is better, clearly
But, yes, I'm glad to see Emma playing positive tennis too
That's the second 'wtf was that' drive volley from Emma. Nice serve to get a ball to put away, then she just taps it back directly at Swiatek. Iga then swipes it away for a clean winner.

A case in point: a 9 minute game with several break points for Emma at 1-2 down in the second set but in the end nothing to show for it on the scoreboard whatsoever.
