One or two of those could improve - mens singles still needs two finalists, and 1 finalist/pair in girls doubles, womens doubles, wheelchair mens doubles, wheelchair womens singles (as I write)
But US and GB have no more possible finalists and the others cant catch us.
Does that make us the equal strongest tennis nation across the full range of disciplines? Can't be far off?!
Yes, over these 2 Slams, if you count all the events equally. But some wouldn't. Just saying ...
No, I know - and a lot wouldn't. But it is worthy of note and, I think, says something about the general state of British tennis.
PS I wouldn't get into a minefield of weighting them, no point and no one would ever agree, but at face value, taking all as they are, it isn't a bad position to be in - better than being 21st on the table or whatever?!
Agreed re comparing / weighing, and I am just not going there. For these are very different events with different characteristics and hugely well done to anyone making a final.
How much it says about the general state of British tennis? Not sure ...

Well, it says we have a decent haul of Brits reaching the finals, more than any other nation bar one. I guess that is something!!
I think that British players could win all of the Grand Slam finals except the men's and women's singles and the great British public (via the press) would still consider it unremarkable. Win one men's or women's singles title, though, and we are convinced that we have the tennis world by the scruff of the neck.
