So Mimi is the last Brit standing in the singles, men and ladies. I so nearly put her for most grass court wins but I wasnt sure if she was fit or not!
Very good by Mimi.
Like Paul for the GB men, Mimi is the one woman left standing anywhere for this week in the GB top 20, as of Wednesday evening.
Another typically frustrating match from Heather today. You will her on so much and yet it's beginning to feel inevitable. She seems to lack conviction in her shots when it really matters.
She's always been a fave and her love for tennis is infectious. I just wish she could make the big points count. The top 100 game is still there.
I made my decision not to go when I realised there was no Brits playing in the singles today. Today is the only day I have off work as well but good luck to Mimi tomorrow.tomorrow.
L16:- Jodie Burrage (GBR) WR165 lost to Linda Fruhvirtova (CZE) WR152 0-6 4-6
Competitive second set - Jodie looks to be getting back to good form, but it wasn't going to happen for her today.
Good to hear that Jodie's getting some good form
I'm a pretty big Jodie fan but I think it's getting high time she should probably be looking for better form on a more regular basis. She has played quite a lot of tennis in the last 9 months after her 6 months out ( comfortably has a full set of counters ). Restarted in lower level ITFs but by December she was winning the W100 Dubai title, beating Polina Kudermetova, then WR 116, in the final after having been a W75 RU the previous week ( indeed, was then to beat Jeanjean and give Coco Gauff a match at the Australian Open ). So I certainly hoped for rather more by this stage this year and for her to be closer to the top 100.
C'mon Jodie, go for it over the next few weeks! And beyond ...

It's been good to see the recent pick-up in results for Lissey with Elixane, after a relatively barren time with various partners.
Here though they are one set down, 6-7(2), with the remainder carried over into Friday due to the inclement weather.
It was the serving of their opponents that caused the problems - they won 20/22 of the first serves they landed. Lissey and Elixanne landed a higher percentage but only won 20/32. No breaks of serve though, so all to play for but no room for error now.
Ponchet has just taken the first set off Minnge 6:2. She has quite an unorthodox, unattractive game with a backhand a la Naomi Broady. Hopefully Xu can settle a bit more in the 2nd

It is the most ugly game you've ever seen, isn't it? I think the FFT are even rather ashamed that it belongs to one of their

seems to be effective on grass though, she reached the Ilkley final last year.
