Disappointing. I had hoped this was an opportunity for Katie to show she had moved closer to her ranking on clay but alas, still a long way to go on the dirt.

I hope she's been watching videos of Jo's run to the semi's. I don't think their natural movement is wildly different.

Paolini is just a step up though from anyone else that Katie's been playing on the dirt. One of the best 3-4 players on this surface - beat Gauff in straight sets in Stuttgart. I didn't really expect much more than a drubbing.

Plus I suspect Kate's a little short of sharpness. She's only played 4 tournaments + BJK Cup so far this year. A win over Siniakova was a huge positive. Hopefully she can stay fit and if she gets a reasonable draw at Roland Garros, she could win a couple of natches
