I remember Fran, early in her career, saying she wanted to prove that there was nothing to stop disabled people following their dreams and she wanted to prove it. She said her aim was to be world number 1. I doubt if she will make it that far but she has a very real chance of getting into the top 100 and that would be a massive achievement.
Does she get the 30 points for qualifying and 10 points for being in round 1 or is it just 30 points?
Just the qualifying points if she loses in the first round proper, but if she wins she would get qualifying plus 35 points for reaching the second round.
Not many points for beating 2 top 100 players, but kudos to be in the main draw of a WTA1000 event without a WC.

A good performance at times, and there is so much obvious room for improvement ..
Good win against a decent opponent. Some good play by both players at times. Kostyuk is very beatable depending upon which version of her turns up. If Emma can serve well and keep the ball in play then she can win.
I think Emma has the most potential of our top women on clay. Her lowish sense of gravity and great movement ought to be a help on the surface.
Watched that while working- love the public sector! Everything you read in the daily mail- well they got me! Good win though - also surprisingly strong tiebreak record recently (won 11 of her last 12 (sorry for the jinx))
