Katie and Daria miss two match points losing 12-10 but really good to see Katie playing doubles in these events. More time on clay and suggests she feels good in her body.
R2: Emma Raducanu (GBR) WR49 lost to Marta Kostyuk (UKR) [24] WR52 4-6 6-2 2-6 R2: Sonay Kartal (GBR) WR60 lost to Elina Svitolina (UKR) [17] WR17 3-6 1-6 R2: Katie Boulter (GBR) WR40 lost to Jasmine Paolini (ITA) [6] WR6 1-6 2-6
Marta was very dangerous whenever she got anywhere close to the net.

Raducanu goes down. Kostyuk kept hitting deep and then forcing short balls from Emma, to which she mostly swiped away for clean winners.
Emma needs to get on the front foot, we saw it in the US Open, we saw it in Miami but she mostly seemed regularly passive here.
Yes, she (and Mark) have managed to get her from a defensive default to tentative. It's a step in the right direction but she's not going to get to top 25 playing tentatively. She still looks like she needs more matches, then we'll see a world beater but not while she's using semi moon-balls too soon and not when she's dollying up mid court shots to be put away.

Not a great day for the British girls. Is it too soon to put all our hopes on Megan Knight instead?
