Just catching up - well done to Cam and really keen to see how he gets on against Djoko. Not been a happy rivalry for him historically but Cam did take a set in Geneva last week. Cams done well and its great to see him back playing well / I really hope he still plays Ilkley next week, I fear he wont. If he does, Ill definitely see if I can get midweek tickets
Really pleased to see Cam's return to form and he played very well. Looking forward to seeing how he does against Djokovic.
Jake was disappointing: partly not handling what Cam was sending his way well, but his serving was also pretty poor so most service games were a struggle. But he's still has a good clay season for someone who was fairly hopeless in his first tour level match on the surface just a few weeks ago.
Jack made Fonseca look very ordinary! Bublik's having a good run, but I'd expect Jack to be too strong for him this time.
So exciting to have so many players still in various disciplines in the second week at the French Open!
I always find it interesting when we play each other, we all tennis is played alot in between the ears, and in this case it upped Cam's game and not so much Jake's.
If only Cam can be that same player against NoJo.
Excited about Jack, and British tennis in general at the moment.
Think Jake's rise being so good and fast is so understated! Getting this far this fast is remarkable grand slams 5 set matches takes its toil so I'm not surprised Cam who's been doing it years won. So congrats to both really great efforts.
Ben Shelton is growing on me. He really pushed Alcaraz today. Terrific attitude.
I think he will be an exciting and serious rival for Jack in the future.
and with Frances T and Tommy Paul both reaching the last 8 today, Americans having a great French Open. Interesting to see non traditional clay nations really having a party this past week.
Tiafoe is great to watch as well and a nice guy, im not sure if he or Shelton has the added extra to win a slam title, but certainly exciting and entertaining players.
Answering the question I posed somewhere up the thread, turns out it is 1963 when we last had two men in the last 16 - Mike Sangster and Bobby Wilson ** both in fact made the last 8 and Mike made the last 4.
Of course, it wasnt 128 draw then, and amateur as opposed to Open.
** I used to go and play the annual Ilkley Open played early August as a boy. Probably around 1979/80/81 ish. One year I was still around playing junior events when the mens semis took place. One of the semifinalists was Bobby Wilson. He was maybe 16-18 years beyond that French Open QF. Must have been around 45 years old but he was teaching players like Mike Appleton a thing or two. Think he lost the semi, though. My Dad told me who he was, being frank I was a bit non plussed as Id never heard of him.

Well I'm backing Shelton Jon. I think he's got that certain something.
Cam and Jack match times are going to overlap due to the vagaries of the length of the women's contests beforehand. Djoko takes the first set 6-2. Cam looking uncomfortable out there so far. All in all I think I'll opt to watch Jack when it starts.
Jack edging a tight opening set, phew. Hope he pull away now.
Novak seems to have his customary hold over Cam. Novak's turnaround this event is impressive, makes me wonder how much has been mental and tension and he released himself when splitting with Andy?
