Before a ball is struck in the all-British clash I'm going to stick my neck out and say I quite fancy Cam to come through this experience over youth again although I don't mind who wins it really.

Fearnley so many shots landing 15" beyond the base line, doesn't look anywhere near his best. Is his mind going back to previous encounters..

This appears to be their first pro meeting.

Yeah, I'm thinking more TCU but he is out of sorts for sure and there is some physical niggle going on, keeps slightly limping, wincing etc

Yes, before the start I fancied Cam to win on the basis of at his best, he's better and he's getting back close to his best .. but Jake's a real fighter so it could be a long match ..

Indeed it could. Superb shot making by Jake to get back on serve in the second set, 5-5.

Yeh, Cam's best or anything near it should be too much for Jake at this stage of his career, that was the thinking anyway, but Jake's a fighter like you say, so many games going to deuce and far beyond. I fear that whoever wins  may leave too much of themselves on court today.

What a fab advert for British tennis at the FO this year. I think Cam will win because he needs it more. Two sets lead now.

L32:  Cameron Norrie WR 81 defeated Jacob Fearnley WR 55 by 6-3 7-6(1) 6-2

So, an appointment with the Austrian qualifier, Misolic, or, more probably, NoDjo looms...

Well Cam won in three, but Jake seemed to be struggling physically in those last two sets. Cam in contrast , as Tim H would say had the better engine!

Think Cam deserves this - particularly after that win v Medvedev in round one.
All good experience for Jake

And NoDjo, as surely as God made little apples, it is:

L16:  Cameron Norrie WR 81 vs (6) Novak Djokovic (SRB) WR 6 (CH = 1 for ever & ever & a few years ago)
