This is going to follow her around for the rest of her career. Meanwhile, I hope the French girl is able to make light
Of it and maybe get some endorsements etc to take advantage of the insult in some way - it would be an obvious one if she is able to see it in a positive light.

And maybe Harriet should offer to play doubles with her at Wimbledon. Or maybe Jay should partner the French girl, just to sort of square the circle biggrin

I've seen the video of Harriet, and to be honest, I'm not sure I can support her anymore. It's truly embarrassing behaviour.

Yes, I agree

I can deal with people smashing rackets etc

But this is just nasty and, as you say, truly embarrassing

And I don't really care that she's apologised - of course she's apologised - but that's not the point

I stopped supporting her a while ago - the only British tennis player I dont support.

Stuart Fraser has written about the incident in The Times - factual without expressing an opinion - but then you can read between the lines.........

Not a good look for British tennis. I dont mind a bit of feistiness but this is giving Mean Girls vibes

Nout to do with feistiness or really British tennis. All to do with Harriet Dart.

Some great comments on the Times article.

'Ping Pong'

'Not enough ping from her and too much pong from the other one?'

'Harriet behaved like an utter aerosol'

Understandably, most commentators were horrified.  What an appalling advertisement for British tennis!  Hopefully, Anne will have plenty of better players to pick for the British team in future.

Harriet represents British tennis, she was just on our BJK cup team of course it has an effect on the perception of British Tennis

Apparently (it's on the Sky News website) Lois posted to Instagram with a photoshopped pic of her holding with a Dove deodorant and a comment about "Dove apparently need a collab".

So it looks like she's taking it light-heartedly, which is good to know. Still doesn't mean what Harriet said wasn't appalling.

That is good to see - hope she makes something positive out of it; and I hope Harriet is able to say something better than that she will "learn from this" which is vacuous and sits alongside "with all due respect" as a meaningless trope of our times

The wording of Harriet's "apology" is absolutely classic "written by her management team" language.

Lois seemed to make light of it on Instagram last night, even tagging Dove in a post and asking for a 'collab' which was funny and a great response!

This whole debacle has a future Paddy Power advert written all over it, bringing Lois and Harriet together for some light-hearted fun.

More seriously, I watched the highlights and I'd never seen Lois play before but she has a wonderful game. Heavy topspin, incredible touch - she had Harriet totally befuddled with her dropshots, and a  stylish single-handed backhand. A massive talent, very stylish to watch as many of the French players are. I was stunned to see she was ranked so low.

Would absolutely love to get a Coup Droit perspective on Lois, her history and her future potential? smile
