Qualifying and winning a MD R1 match, to take him to 643 ranking points, would very likely be enough.
'Just' qualifying, to take him to 593 points, would be very unlikely to be enough. So a R1 win looks the top 100 counter.
Will be clearer once qualifying is over ( with hopefully Billy through ) and we see the live rankings tables for next week and what other players are up to.
Very good start. 13 (net 5) points to take him to 581 points.
Tseng didn't look that impressive early on, and Billy had quite a few chances to press on and get the key break in the second set. But just couldn't get it, the Taiwanese player fought his way back into the match and has now taken total control of the 3rd.
I think Im right that Billy is on the verge today; LTR shows his live ranking as 102 this morning. A win today could take him to 93; there are a few players also playing who could get in the way but not 7 and it would seem likely he could make the top 100 live and stick by the end of the week, if he can beat Goffin.
Im sure Indy or someone will tell us the folly of this analysis, but a simple check of LTR suggests he has a decent shout - but of course, he needs to beat Goffin.
A lot of us turn out to be Goffin fans based on the recent Favourite Player polls, but Im sure wed welcome Billy beating him today!
