Wow, that's a great result from Jake! I thought it might all be over, the tide having turned, when he was broken twice in the second set. Sorry to hear Carballés was injured towards the end but Jake had put himself in a position to take advantage by playing well in the first set.
Jake would appear to be getting the hang of playing on the red stuff (after being two breaks down in the second set!):
L32: (LL) Jacob Fearnley WR 74 defeated Roberto Carballés (ESP) WR 55 by 1 & 5
L16: (LL) Jacob Fearnley WR 74 vs (5) Alex de Miñaur (AUS) WR 7 (CH = 6 last July)
Interesting match up for Jake and one he can only learn from. I actually wonder if he and AdM would know each other? If AdM is British based, might they train or sometimes hang together on tour or around? Dont suppose on TOur as they wont have played many same events, but maybe for training? Dont know.
Im not sure Dzumhur was a tough draw on clay. His lower Level form was often on clay; at tour level, hes been in 4 finals, 3 hard court and 1 grass.
I think Cam did ok with that draw and he got a decent win out of it. Same for khachanov, hes played 10 tour level finals and all on hard court. And won one masters, indoors in Paris. A fast surface.
I dont think Cam should think that is the worst draw by any stretch of the imagination.
Cam got the first set 7-6, its on serve at 4 all in the second. Hang in there, Cam
AdM has learnt how to play on clay, French last 8 and Monte Carlo semis. Yet its not his best surface; expect him to win, hes solid and savvy, but Jake could give him a tough match. A win for Jake would be impressive, but unlikely
