Maybe a lesson learned from the finals last year where actually going with Katie and Emma (or even Katie and Heather) for the doubles against Slovakia would have been a more competitive option.
I missed it all yesterday. Great play by the girls and looks a super selection by Anne, who I had long ago rather concluded, and said, is just not a good captain. So bit confused.com - I guess there are definitely things that she is not great at but cometh the hour yesterday, great stuff. Well done all!

Not to take anything away from Anne (well maybe although still mega kudos for heading the team as a whole) but various articles have attributed the choice of doubles team and choice of strategy of play to Louis Cayer
This is in the Mail, but variations of it are on tweets, and other sites too:
"The surprisingly strong display is surely down to the presence in the Hague of LTA coach Louis Cayer - a sensei of the art of doubles.
The Canadian has transformed Britain into a mens doubles powerhouse and Mail Sport understands he is set to take a greater hand in the womens game, too."
Well done team! Maybe Katie should play some doubles in the clay events? To get herself more and more practice time / experience on the red stuff. Might boost her confidence and game in the singles.
Katie and Heather did a great job at the Olympics. Katie can play doubles to a good standard she just never has been in the habit of it, which may well be part of managing her condition too.
I think her and Jodie will play the grass together. If Jodie is using her singles PR for Roland Garros they might sneak in.

Thanks, I'll assume the doubles was all down to Cayer, that will leave me less confused
Great that he was there this time after quite a number of comments were made, notably by a certain CD, about there being no sign of him at the Malaga finals.
Hosts China Defending champions Italy Qualified teams Great Britain, Japan, Kazakhstan, Spain, Ukraine, and the United States.
Are the finals straight knockout or in round robin groups of 4 and then knockout. Im guessing straight knockout?
Wiki shows straight knock out.
(6) GB were the only top seeds to progress. (1) Canada, (2) Czechia, (3) Slovakia, (4) Australia and (5) Poland all finished 2nd in their qualifier groups.
While the BJK Cup rankings and seedings may not truly reflect the various nations' strength, so the USA for instance could clearly be extremely strong, quite clearly there will be potentially very strong teams missing.
