Well done Anne in making that choice. I assume Louis also encouraged it. And well done the girls, they were absolutely brilliant and so happy for Katie that she could come back so strong after that earlier loss.

Yes she was super today. Absolutely bossed it from the back, big serves constantly setting Katie up for easy put aways, great encouragement. Really felt like she was 'leading' the pair and as Peter says, was instrumental in turning it into a match that took all Schuurs strengths out the game.

Couldnt understand why Anne didnt initially choose Liv but she chose wisely - well done to team GB, an inspired choice well played. It was even quite relaxing watching that doubles match.

Is China hard court or clay court? Anne could have some different decisions to make by then, Emma might be back and could be the GB no. 1.

To be fair it's a big swing, something Anne has been criticised for not doing in the past. And given Louis is with the squad he must feel it's the right call. Maybe they think they can hit through Schuurs who's always surprised me being ranked so highly as I've never been that convinced watching her over the years.

Bravo to Anne and Louis - Louis' a real smart cookie for doubles - he'll have seen Liv and Harriet and known exactly what the problem was

And lots of us here think established doubles pairs, and doubles players in general, are over-hyped

Bravo to them for making the call - and for Jodie and Katie for really stepping up biggrin

I don't think China run many clay court tournaments, just three at ITF W40 level in total in 2023 and 2024 and none this year. So it will be hard court in Shenzhen on 16th September

The venue is known colloquially as the Spring Cocoon, it is the Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre Arena and hosted the WTA Finals in 2019

Those where on indoor hardcourts

Katie and Jodie in doubles!

Replacing the partnership of a specialist dubs player and probably our best dubs player with two singles players-one of whom is very likely to be low on confidence and another who is out of practice and liable to explode! Not likely to end well!

 What do I know?

I was very sceptical also - I wasn't even going to watch - joined it for the second set LOL

I watch quite a lot of doubles, but didn't watch the start of this match either - just from 4-2 in the first.

Well done team. Promising debut by Sonay and wise selection by Anne in deciding doubles.
