Oh and another one Sonay! Well done! Laughed at the commentator, who has the most left in their kegsI didnt think Sonay hardly broke sweat in that third set. A good effort by her lower ranked opponent in the second though but couldnt sustain the level so was always going to go Sonay wayIMO.
One of Sonay's great strengths is that nothing seems to phase her, she just keeps playing her game however it unfolds, there are none of the mood swings we sometimes see in others. That bad line call would was a case in point, she had it checked, it went against her, she accepted the bad decision and moved on.
Misses break point as her forehand falls to pieces.
*3-5
Katie loses 6-4 6-3. Some good moments but she was second best for 90% of the match. Well deserved win for Lamens who was really super. Not much over the last couple of days that suggest Katie is going to have a brighter clay season than last year.
Down to the doubles. Would make the Dutch favourites but hopefully we can get off to a good start.

Yes, too many errors from Katie and not really on her game today.
I must admit that I don't have a lot of faith in Harriet and Liv as a partnership. I think Liv needs a bigger server alongside her and then she can control the net.

Do you think that Jodie might provide that power ?

Could do, but I haven't seen enough of Jodie playing doubles to see how good the rest of her game is. Tereza appears to be the ideal partner for Liv - and of course Liv and Lissey combined well before that.

Did you not see Katies match against Maria yesterday? Thats the best Ive seen Katie play by far and her footwork on the service seems to have improved so i think youre being overly pessimistic with this statement
My god we are playing Jodie and Katie in the doubles?? That doesn't signal a lot of confidence in Liv (although I agree she needs someone with a far bigger serve and strike from the back to have the freedom to do her thing up the court).
Also Mark, I did, but it was also a win over... Maria. Let's not get carried away. Today's performance is more a fair reflection of where she is against most of the top 75 on clay. Not a million miles away and getting closer, but not quite there.
Replacing the partnership of a specialist dubs player and probably our best dubs player with two singles players-one of whom is very likely to be low on confidence and another who is out of practice and liable to explode! Not likely to end well!

Katie for Harriet I could understand on another occasion, but not today. The Dutch girls both have plenty of experience at this level, as shown by their win-loss ratios (9-1 and 12-5 before this tournament)
