I also believe in Katie Swan's potential (to become top 50, beyond that who knows) but I believe 2025 is a year of building a fitness base necessary to play top tennis.

Yes, let Katie concentrate on that. She doesn't need the BJK Cup this year at ieast.

I'd probably be taking Fran. She's not exactly a mug on hard courts. When she last played on hard ( outdoor I assume but still ... ) she won an ITF W75 tournament in Brazil ar the end of March, beating 3 top 200 players on the way with Jeanjean WR 123 in the final. A few weeks earlier in Mexico, after qualifying in a WTA 500, she beat Sherif WR 68 by retiral but she was 6-4 3-0 up.

And if things continue as they have been of late, she will be full of confidence.

Surely for the time being, a stronger player to have for back up.

Didn't Katie make her GB debut at 16? A shame she hasn't been able to play as many times as she ought to have by now.

IIRC the last time she was in the squad she was mainly on tambourine duty!
