Lovely to see Katie Swan get a win. She now may face the number one seed Gasavova, if she comes through her match against Zelinskaya.
Anyway the main things to take from this match are that she is finally back out competing again, that she lasted OK on a match that took an hour and three quarters, and that she got a win under her belt.
I'm relieved for her that she is back and competing again, and congrats on the win.

Yes a good win for Katie today. Overall I thought she was striking the ball well and cleanly. Having won the first set comfortably, there was a minor concern at the start of the second when she went 0-2 down after she became distracted when she disagreed with a line call against her. In the next game at *15-15 she appeared to be suffering from heatstroke and the doctor was called on. She took a MTO and fortunately was able to continue. At that point she was able to reassert her authority on the match and served for it at 5-3. A bit of a wobble to lose the game but then broke again to win 6-1, 6-4.
Seemed to be no lasting issues at the end so hopefully ok for tomorrow
A shout out too for her opponent who overruled the umpire who had called 2 aces out for Katie at a pivotal moment, 2-2 in the second. Nice sporting behaviour
