Either Harriet has dropped out or has been promoted into the main draw.

She's been bumped up, replacing Cristian who withdrew late. Probably could have done with the qualifying points to be honest but gives her time to acclimatise to the clay I suppose.

I literally just wondered if it was possible for Heather to play but then discounted it as qualifying had already started so thrilled she got a WC into the MD.

Harriet 1-5*

She just offers nothing on this surface really. Big struggle.

Yes from a set and a break down she stayed calm and tidy rather than beating herself up, so she was able to take advantage as Gracheva went off the boil, and found some better tennis herself.

Just missed a break point in a long opening game of the decider though.

*1-4

Misses a break back point and screams in frustration as Gracheva holds.

Excellent depth from Gracheva, and a heavier ball, meant Harriet really struggled for most of the match. Shame she got bumped up from qualies, the wins and points if she came through would have given her a bit of momentum.

She loses 6-1 3-6 6-1

Misses a set point at 5-4* after saving multiple game points.

Tiebreak.

Shymanovich has by far the bigger game but it's much more flakey, and doesn't move as well on the clay. Overall an even contest.
