It feels a bit like he's overplaying right now to 'get there'. He'll be in Miami quallies come the weekend - no?

I think the Boggo comparison is unfair - Boggo was suggested to not have fulfilled his potential through not trying hard enough. Billy can never be accused a) of not trying hard enough b) not fulfilling his potential - he has exceeded his potential and works harder than anyone.

I also think it was unfair of the LTA to suggest that re Boggo, but dont know enough about him.

But definitely, definitely to say that about Billy is so far from the reality

Yes, it feels like Cameron is making one step forward and one step back at the moment.

Boggo and Billy very different cases in my opinion. Billy has improved his year-end ranking every year since 2020. Aged 28, he was still ranked 331, so to get to the fringes of the Top 100 at the age of 30 is a tremendous achievement.

But as mentioned previously, away from grass, he's struggled against the leading players, even those in the 100-200 bracket, so I think a Top 100 ranking wouldn't be a reflection of his overall level.

Top 100 is a significant milestone and yet also an arbitrary figure if used to judge a player's success. Billy's had plenty of chances in recent weeks, where he has been seeded highly, so can't feel hard done by. He had opportunities on grass that other players wouldn't have.

That said, if this proves to be his pinnacle in terms of ranking, a great effort. And at 30 he could have several years ahead of him.
