Well done Liv. You would have thought the BEEB would have done a short piece on Liv reaching the final. They are quick to report if Emma gets knocked out in the first round.

Who would have thought Sonay would give Sabalenka a tougher match than the current AO champion?

I'm not sure that that is any real indication, as Sabalenka would have be more on high alert against an old foe who has beaten her.

I was hoping for a WC for for her into Miami, but I guess that's not going to happen, so just watching with interest to see how the effects of IW help or hinder her there.

First set gone 2-6 as they haven't held serve yet, although returning pretty well to get two breaks themselves.

So (just) $242,716 between them and 650 points, with new career highs of 31 for Liv and 33 for Tereza.

Oh, so close in the second set. Held 2 set points on return at 5-4, and then a crap shoot.

Pity. But still the really big week I'd been hoping that they would get some time.

Outplayed In the first set, but had chances to win the second.
Don't watch much womens doubles, but a very good standard. Asia Muhammad was excellent, especially on the overhead

Asia Muhammad another player who has made the step up later in her career. While very excited about Liv's continued progress, I think women's doubles is all over the place at the moment. Leading pairs so inconsistent, and lots of swapping. Am a big double fan, but so difficult to market.

Now that the dust has settled

IWrechistw1.jpg

Our best IW in recent years with 9 wins and Sonay getting to R16 (our best singles finish).

In doubles, Olivia has raised our win rate from 0 to 2/3 of a match per year. Strangely enough, she also logged our best doubles finish.

I think they must have read your comment since (admittedly as the tail end of a piece about Jack Draper) they have done a short commentary and a picture of her.
