Weeks 10&11 - WTA1000 - Indian Wells, USA Hard

Good experience for her, and I was pleased that she held her own and didn't go to pieces. I hope it stands her in good stead for the future.

I'm pleased for Sonay but I doubt Emma's suddenly thinking she must up her game in response to Sonay's success. Every player is on their own path and Sonay has been able to climb the rankings without any of the pressure or attention focused on Emma since 2021 (Emma has 2.6m followers on Instagram, Sonay less than 9,000).

I do hope they are both in the next BJK Cup squad though.

Emma has now deleted her instagram presence,Sonay now just over 9,000.

 Doubt her sponsors will agree.

Yes - irritatingly her sponsors probably care more about her "socials" than her results.

No, but that's part of the informed decision she will have taken

It's a wise decision in the current circumstances, but I think she's more likely to have temporarily deactivated her account than deleted it.

 Yes

After all, she took herself off Instagram etc back in 2023

But then reactivated it

Which doesn't change the view of it being a very good idea

They take the first set 7-5 - but it is so close. Tereza has been targeted for a lot of the match and seems to have had far more of the play. The opponents' reactions are lightning at times.
