I watched more than half of Henry's match. My observations: I am sure that Barranco can play better than he did, especially in the first set. He made way too many errors when he was hitting trading shots. Henry had a point for a 6-0 set. On several occasions Henry was under huge pressure but was able to produce top notch passing shots. This bodes very well. It was windy in Crete this morning, the olive trees at the side of the court were swaying. I didn't watch any of Stu Parker's match, but somehow I feel his win was more significant than Henry's. We all know that Henry probably has a future in pro tennis. But Stu Parker at the age of 27? Respect to him! I shall follow his progress.
Great from both! Has Stu ever made a challenger QF before?
I just looked at 2022, the year of his CH 346, and he actually won the Nonthaburi 3 Challenger 50 title in Thailand in September 2022 as a qualifier. He beat Billy Harris in the QF and Arthur Cazaux of France by retirement in the final, though he was well ahead in the match anyway. None of which I remotely recall.
He won no other Challenger main draw match in 2022 and unsurprisingly that shows as his only ever Challenger title. Otherwise I don't know what runs he may have had in other years.
That's a big fall for Karatsev and an unlucky quarterfinal for Ryan. Karatsev made the 2021 Aussie Open semis and won the ATP 500 in Dubai that same year. Crazy to see him back outside the top 200
