French Open tickets

Haven't been to Roland Garros since 2022, so have been thinking about trying to get tickets again this year. Hadn't realised they had introduced an online ballot just to access the public ticketing platform - it's crazy how demand has soared over the past decade, seems like there's more hurdles to jump through with every passing year...

Does anyone have any advice on options for obtaining tickets? Right now it seems like my only choices are to fork out for hospitality (I'm guessing those are the 'Premium Sales' which open on March 12?) or try and get something through the resale in April?

Sheddie,

You can currently buy a ticket/hotel combo from RG travel via the RG website. I did this for a night session, hotel for one night, and a ticket for the following day, just to be sure I'd be able to get on the show courts at some point

I didn't manage to get any tickets in the initial sales queue last year but did get some in the resale - it's like some sort of weird game checking all the time on the phone for tickets coming up, and seeing if you can be fast enough to buy them (good job I'm only working part-time). Don't know if the new system will make it any easier wrt this. Putting tickets back into resale is straightforward, although you lose 10% of the face value.

I did the lowest level hospitality under Suzanne Lenglen for a day session last year which was fine - would've been ok value if I could drink and eat lots I guess (but I can't and would rather watch the tennis) - free bars and lots of canape style food.

Towards the end of the second week, ground passes will get you access to Suzanne Lenglen with a big(ish) screen so you can watch the semis from Chatrier, and you can watch the veterans dubs here too.

There didn't seem to be much availability from secondary sellers on-line or touts last year, possibly because the tickets were all digital (phone) for the first time and ID got checked as often as not when you entered the grounds, to see if it all matched up.

All said, I had a great week (the 2nd sunny week, rather than the wet and grim 1st week).

Good luck smile

Sheddie, did you manage to get RG tickets? Seems impossible to get any show court tickets this year, unless you pay for hospitality ones (which I'm not gonna do)

I was fully planning on closely monitoring the resale, but ended up having a big work project which has to be finished by the end of June - and I'm already going to WTA Queens and Eastbourne, so I ended up forgetting about RG in the end.

Next year, I'll have to be more on it with the online ballot in Jan. Crazy that it's been so competitive - thank you for all your advice, and sorry you weren't able to get tickets.

Hoping to try and get to Wimbledon. Are you going to any of the grass events?

Oh cool! I'll be at Queens on the Wednesday - hoping either Emma or Katie are still in.

Not sure re grass events yet & haven't got any tickets, so that will limit my options

Contemplating Bologna though smile

Enjoy those who have tickets!!

The only way I can find to watch RG is paying £30.99 to watch through TNT.  Expensive and prohibitively so for some  hmm my son is paying for it as an early birthday present for me.

Big plus, no pundits on the match Im watching biggrin

Enjoy it Brittak! Roland Garros definitely has its own unique flavours - please do let us know what the experience is like for you and what you make of the tournament :)

I went for the first time in 2013, back when I was still doing tennis journalism and covering the whole event in-person for the first time. I still have a few strong recollections from those 3 weeks -

(a) The uniquely partisan nature of the French fans - extending sometimes even to open animosity when they get frustrated with their own.

(b) The dramatic fluctuations in the weather, sometimes over the course of a single day, from baking heat to brooding clouds, and how that often chimed with tempo and momentum changes across matches, or across the entire concourse, adding to the drama.

Had a lovely couple of days at RG - and you are right the experience is very different to other tournaments I have been to.

On the first day saw Sinner/Gasquet - it was the latters final match - not a brilliant match in itself but interesting for that reason. Also saw Boulter which was not the best of matches and the stadium was nearly empty so not much of an atmosphere.

Second day was so hot so it was hard to sit in the sun for too long in one go. But watched a big chunk of Neil and Joes dubs match - that was fun and they played well. Later saw Paolini and then in the evening watched the Alcaraz/Dzumhur match which was super fun and atmosphere was great!

Will definitely go back at some point!!!
