Well at least he gets on his way to Indian Wells still reasonably early ( I assume he still is in qualies ). Have a wee rest then prepare.

Not quite yet. In as a Lucky loser and won  6-1 1-0 Ret against Frenchman Enzo Couacaud

Thats genuinely lucky ! Plays the Czech, Gengel, next up.

Ha, what's arguably lucky or unlucky for Billy here will play out over the next few days.

Billy's something of a glutton for punishment, isn't he?

Is he going to skip IW qualifying and the whole tournament if he goes deep here?

I'm not sure when qualifying starts for Indian Wells. I think it is early next week, ie. after the weekend, in which case he could still play IW. And Billy being Billy he probably would.

Mens qualifying starts Monday. I assume the final here will be Sunday. So Id say if he made the final then probably not, semi final he is probably ok to make it even though its a long flight but you get an extra 13 hours back due to time zone.

edit: actually semi final is probably not a go either as would probably take 3 flight I but wouldnt put anything past Billy!

16 hours just from Bangalore to San Fran, and then onto, what San Diego or somewhere? Definitely a hike - putting aside time, wont arrive in tip top shape!!

Yeah, I actually ended up looking into this. There is a Saturday evening flight from Bangalore to Dubai. Stay in Dubai the night. That is probably the best option and then Sunday am a flight to LAX and drive from there.
I always wonder if any tennis players end up as travel agents after their careers they certainly have to know how to get round etc!

What would he need this week to break the top 100? Feels like he's so close but just can't quite get 'there'.

Needs to win the title, final gets him to 101 from what I can tell.

I mean, given he lost in qualies initially, I think it would be one of the biggest results of anyone career if he went on to take the title or even reach the final. I know lucky losers have won ATP titles and challenger titles before, but this would still be a story and a half and, being frank, feels highly unlikely!!

I think highly unlikely is pushing it a bit. You can have an off game or a bad match up but in general Billy has been on good form a 9-3 record in the previous 3 Indian challengers isnt bad. If he had entered directly, hed have been top seed I believe. I dont think youd say a win was highly unlikely if he had the top seeding!
