PS Henry needs to play a couple of events with someone else then! Evo, or Cam, what are up to at the start of the clay season?
As I edited in, Henry will still be ahead of Harri on points after IW. So if he can get ahead of Arevalo and Pavic too he could be WR 1 on his own some post IW. It's after Miami that they will have the same points total.
And Evo stands down and rests easy. No point Andy Murray getting his kit back on then
I remember when one of the Bryans played the Davis Cup Final on his own and the other brother lost the No. 1 ranking. They and the ATP were not pleased.

The actual fact of being called number one as opposed to 2 even if on same points is actually quite a big thing - financially, as well as from an ego/appearance perspective. I imagine sponsorships deals probably have some sort of clause in giving a bonus for reaching or being number one that is bigger or doesnt apply when number 2, or maybe even equal number 1?
SF: Yuki Bhambri & Alexei Popyrin (IND/AUS) CR 908 (44+864) vs Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 64 (29+35)
Ah, so tight for Lloyd and Julian and a disappointment at the end - fast court here and probably came down to serve. I think Lloyd actually rises above Neal to 16th in the live rankings after this week.
QF: (2) Harri Heliövaara (FIN) & Henry Patten CR 7 (4+3) defeated Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski CR 52 (36+16) by 4 & 1

Amidst the rankings chat, I missed the result here! Well done Harri and Henry and that is quite decisive.
So, Henry and Jamie as Brits into the semis. Both have had semis in other 500 events this month (Doha and Dallas respectively) and will be looking to go one further.
I am still not clear if this is Jamie and John Peers last event together (they are going separate ways in IW) so a final or title would be a nice way to go out.

Popyrin doesn't play doubles, so difficult to assess whether he's a natural doubles player or a big hitter. Either way, they beat Arevalo and Pavic in round one.

Not sure, I didnt see any play - but the score suggests it was only one or two points and the fast surface suggested to me it probably was one or two points in service. As you say, maybe Popyrin is a decent doubles player as well

Why would it have been any concern of the ATP that one of the Byran brothers had lost their No.1 ranking?
