If Fran gets through she now plays another qualifier or a lucky loser, whoever the seed was in her section has pulled out. Big opportunity for Fran here.

 It is Kalinskaya WR34 #4 who has withdrawn because of illness. (She was WR19 last week)

 Yes, and that's now 85 points from qualifying and winning her R1 and up to live ranked 121.

A further 48 points if she can beat Arango in R2. Not bad opposition at all for R2 of a WTA 500 and yes a chance to avenge that recent WTA 125 loss.
