Although Ajla has played a lot in Britain (11 Wimbledons !), these two have never met.

Oof, sounds like a struggle, but well done to Jodie for turning it around and toughing it out!

Love to see she's holding on to that new-found mental fortitude and ability to stay calm and not lose the plot entirely when things aren't going well.

Aces 14 to 6. DF's 8 to 12. Most impressive part was saving multiple break points with some good serves - and not letting minor frustration at missing shots boil over into major blow-ups.

Markedly better though at maintaing rhythm and confidence in the last year or so when facing setbacks. She rarely crumbles and goes away like she regularly used to.

BTW, Tara's doubles should be starting around 10:30 UK time, and Eden/Madeleine v Jodie second match after midnight.
Hope Jodie isn't carrying an injury - tape on her upper right arm and shoulder.
