Play cancelled for today. It'll be a balmy 17C tomorrow increasing to mid 20s Monday. Welcome to Texas.

To be fair it can do that in the UK too (although not very often)

I think it was 2019 that I had a battle with myself over whether to put a bikini on in my garden in February because it was in the 20's)

I don't know where you are / were then, emmsie, but out of interest I looked up London 2019 weather records. It was 21C on 26th February. A year earlier, about the same time, much of the country was hugely effected by The Beast from the East and its deep snow storms.

South London/Surrey, it was mental. I could do with it happening again though, this winter has been so gloomy.

L16:- Maia Lumsden(GBR) / Heather Watson(GBR) CR168 (72+96)[4] def Sophie Chang (USA) / Angela Kulikov (USA) CR687 (127+560) 6-4 5-7 10-5

Jodie is the only one playing today. She was watching Maia and Heather yesterday with Eden and Heather's Mum.

Maia and Heather both pick up 54 point counters from their win - nett 15 for Maia and 44 for Heather.
The second and third seeds were both beaten - but they were in the opposite side of the draw from our girls.

Jodie started pretty horribly. 0-4

Very hard to see the ball on TV. Perhaps thats just as well!

Had heaps of chances to get back into this set after that horrible start. 5 breaks points across three games, finally takes one.

*3-5

Broken from *40-0 to lose the set with horrible serving.

Her biggest problem is her serve - very low percentage of first serves in the first few games although it crept up to 40% by the end of the match, with seven double faults. If she can get it under control she can still turn this around, especially as she is returning pretty well.

*40-15 to break point down. Saved. Another missed game point. Saves another break point. Holds.

*1-1

Gosh this is tight. And not very pretty. But still enthralling (and amazing to have Petra back).

Stats currently showing she's taken just 4 out of 16 break points

Jodie has a chance at 30-0* at 3-3* but it's slammed shut. Clings on a very long and tough service game.

4-4*

Jodie breaks from 0-30*, makes it seven in a row at *5-4 *40-0.

And gets it done on her second match point. Great win, great hustle. Great stuff!
