And thats a good win over someone of Kungs ranking level

Yes good work from Mimi and still in the doubles as well. You just feel she is starting to find her feet at senior level, no rush, progressing nicely.

Mimi misses out on some very good spots in the main draw

R1:- Mingge Xu (GBR) WR486/17yo/JR15 [9] v Leonie Kung (SUI) WR239

Leonie played, and lost in three sets, the final of last week's W75 - maybe she'll be tired ????

Don't know if my theory was right - and don't care biggrin

Great three set win for Mimi either which way !

That's a pity. She seemed to be playing well from the bits I saw in the first set.
Doubles later today - not before 19:30 local time

Maybe the three sets win took it out of her yesterday. Qualies, main draw singles and still in doubles. Building up stamina. Wonder where Mimi will play next?

Yes, or maybe the final took it out of her opponent in the R1 match

Always difficult to know the two sides

Yes could be, although Leonie is 24 and has 7 years more experience on the tour than Mimi. I sometimes think we forget Mimi is only 17.

Yes, indeed. Emerson also lost today after a very good run last week - she's only 16

(I think she had to play two full singles matches too - which is a big ask)

Something must be wrong as she has pulled out of upcoming tournaments

I think she has only withdrawn from Birmingham, one in New Zealand and Manchester - all in the next two weeks. And only Manchester is a withdrawal this week.
