I wonder what Dan is thinking and what his plan is? Surely he wont enjoy playing like this for long. Right now, hed be a question to give a Wimbledon wild card to, hed certainly need one . I wonder if he will transition to doubles at some point?
After Dan's well publicised comments on the doubles game, I can't see him ever becoming a specialist. I think he'd probably opt for retirement and the golf course instead. He's had a few spats over the years, with Jamie Murray in particular, for 'trashing the doubles game' - I believe he said something along the lines of doubles players being guys who weren't good enough to make it in singles.
But it's hard to really know where Dan's game is at - he's been less consistent and increasingly streaky for a while now. He was having a poor 2023, but out of nowhere, produced a phenomenal week and won the ATP 500 title in Washington. Dismal 2024, and then he made round 3 of the US Open.
I could quite easily see him qualifying and putting a run together somewhere in the next few months or out of the blue, making second week of Wimbledon on a wildcard. Who knows!

Well, he certainly is keeping the schedule going - he lives in Dubai, I think, and has Manama (Bahrain) Challenger, followed by being an alt in qualies for both Doha and Dubai, before hoping to get into IW. Problem is, IW qualies and Miami qualies could be a challenge with his current ranking in terms of entry, so he may well have to play a few more challengers.
Not sure if living in Dubai would help him get a qualies wild card there?
That's a really good win over one of the best pairs in the world and avenges their narrow defeat at the Australian Open. They really do seem to be gelling.

Lloyd and Julian 4th in early race, the German pair third, Italians second after AO RU spot - feels like with Arevalo and Pavic and Henry and Harri, we have the 5 current top form teams right there.

With Luke and Sander 7th in Race and Jamie and John Peers showing form this week, we have players in 4 pairs showing real form this season.
Good to see - just wish Neal and Joe find some form
watched the Alcaraz / hurkacz match tonght - what a game! Alcaraz is so entertaining and, tbh, talented.
Great stuff!
Plus..at end CA and HH had such a respectful ending. I have seen a few highlights this week and it seems consistent in the mens that the players are respectful with no "edge" at the end - in the womens it is always so perfunctory! Why is that, why do the women take it so hurtfully!?
Sorry if that seems niaive and disrespectful but it is so often the case - and I just dont get it - but maybe that is me??!

I remember we had a discussion last year about this (though I have no idea which tournament was the one that prompted it and forum search is not going to help me find it) and IIRC the consensus was, broadly, that a lot of it's probably down to socialistion (in "Western" cultures anyway).
I think you can see it at much younger ages outside the tennis world, where boys can have a serious scuffle at morning break and be best friends again by lunch time, while girls are much less physical about their arguments (or it's all by implication or exclusion), because the expectation is that girls behave "nicely" and "politely", but then seethe for ever.
