Thanks to Kundalini for compiling some historic results, here is the full list since AO 2019 (when I think it started?) as best we can - anyone disagree please shout
Formatting may be off!
As you will see, I need to check one or two win totals; plus Covid stopped one event happening (Wimbledon 2020), one event (FO 2019 had no named winner, and FO 2022 I didnt run the contest as I was having a break from it (called a mini huff)
In terms of total wins, we have a few multiple winners but pride of place goes to:
Miriamabc (previously used Miriambee as a moniker) with 6 titles!
Indiana - coming up as a recent star performer - with 5 titles

Looking at the list above, this years AO tally of wins (26 plus maybe one or even 2 more to come) is the highest since we started doing this, so good year for the Brits in Melbourne
The best non British slam is 32 at the US Open in 2021, so some way off that still.
So in the 90's, early 100's seems to be the range we hit and 104 wins is the target to beat - 26 to 28 wins at the AO is spot on with that as a run rate!
Remembering the French Open wins prediction contest will not only anoint a winner but allocate points to the year long overall competition. If someone gets knocked out early in the French they can still gain points for this. The 10 nearest predictors, or ties, will get points, whether up or down, although the anonymous voters will be taken out of the equation, ie anonymous doesnt count. Sorry!
Wimbledon and the US also count, so look out for threads popping up for those nearer the time, probably around two weeks before the tournament starts.
So, Indy has won out French Open contest and we havent even completed week one!!
It is Indy's 6th triumph overall and 3 of the last 4. He is on a run!

And based on the F1 GP points allocations for the top 10, here is our new ranking list at the half way point of the slam season - of note is that if we end up on 24 wins in the FO, Indy will boost this with a 5 pt bonus. But we will beat that, for sure, and he won't get the bonus.

Indy also won the title for season winner last year - at the end of the FO last year, he had no points, all came in the Wimbledon and US Open contests. So anyone on no points now, or behind Indy generally - it can all change. Can Indy's rather remarkable run continue!!??

As we surpass 24 wins, confirming this is the table as it will stand at the end of the French. Indy will also enter Wimbledon as defending champ and world Ranked 1 - centre court opening match for him
The question was rightly raised about the impact the US Open Mixed format would have and would we include it.
The answer is yes. If the powers that be decide this is the official new format and it is called the US Open Mixed Doubles, then it should be included. The fact there are only 16 pairs and quite different pairs to historically doesn't really matter. If a Brit plays, then any British wins will count to our tally.
It is said to be held the week before the main US Open starts. That just means we will have to aim to get entries in sooner, the day of the Mixed doubles taking place, whenever that is.
In terms of comparisons with past years - not sure from memory how many mixed we typically get, but it sort of doesnt matter. Past years are just interesting to compare with, not a thing as such. And don't impact this years event. 4 of the 5 events continue as normal anyway, it is just the mixed that will make comparisons a little more off kilter, but they don't mean anything anyway in terms of our prediction contest.
So the US Open will continue for us and include mixed doubles in the new format
If the entries are to be in before the mixed competition (fair enough) then they will have to be in well before the main draws for the singles so a lot more guess work!
If the entries are to be in before the mixed competition (fair enough) then they will have to be in well before the main draws for the singles so a lot more guess work!
Hope having such early entries doesn't effect your voting levels. I'll be in there OK, flippin' more guesswork or not

I know - it is what it is and Ill have to get it up well in advance - but I dont think its right to not include mixed just because its different or not liked in this new format, you know?
Im away this weekend for my daughters graduation ceremony up in Edinburgh so ill update the year to date standings in the competition after the weekend, probably Monday.
DF and Danten join the winners circle with their first titles, respectively.
