Para tennis has similar categories to athletics, which were missing in tennis. So bringing it into tennis is a welcome development.
The presentation went well. Dom did the toss, and because F Jones took so long rooting through her bag, they had time for all of it. The day was hot and sunny, and the tennis was of very high quality. We saw Cilic get a lucky win over Anderson, who was cruising until his injury. But men's tennis on grass can often result in short points, so we enjoyed the quality women's hard-fought matches more.
Trump has reopened the student visa scheme, but the ridiculous fascist terms and the fact that there is a risk of being grilled for hours at the airport and not being let in, or kidnapped by masked men and deported for little or no reason, make going to the USA a very unsafe, expensive risk. The civil unrest will only increase as they attempt to find a way to cancel or fix the midterms. So Anna has just cancelled her term abroad.
Thats such a shame - re the term abroad- I hope things calm down enough for Anna to consider it again in the future?
Thanks for the updates, Anna's dad. Glad you had a good day at Nottingham and sorry to hear Anna won't be spending a term in the US, but it seems a very wise choice. I hope she gets an opportunity in the future, or the chance to so something similar in another country.

Thanks all.
She is considering taking the 2nd term off and spending 16 weeks in Soto. She may try again in a year. It is a pity that all but one of her choices are in the US. The one non-US option was New Zealand. Which we liked, but were worried that there would be no tennis nearby. In hindsight, that would have been the better choice. Attending the AO and going to New Zealand for term two makes a lot of sense. But we will see where finances take us. The women in the study abroad program were quite rude to Anna, suggesting she was ungrateful, as she had received her first choice, and all they had done for her. Hopefully, that will not be held against her. Her peace of mind and safety come first.
No, he is in the National development squad, as opposed the full GB squad. They trained in a joint camp at the NTC last weekend. He generally plays lower level events. They might play if both entered the UK Nationals in November. I am not what is going on with UTR, but his number is about 2.5 points higher than his real playing level.

And Grace Piper who Anna would potentially play in R2.
But yeah, Eliz and Lily Hutchings as top seeds. That's cruel on everyone else. Everyone else needn't bother turning up.
Not sure if you saw my message in another thread, I feel we could use a special college section ( like we have juniors or player of the month) and would allow postings to be much more clearly strxutured around different events - like the various NCAA events- or British college play, signing etc. they get a bit lost in general section and create v long threads in the process.
just a thought - I dont know if Sheddie saw it, but if you agree, maybe he could create a section, it seemed easy to so when we did it for player of the month.
I've read this thread with great interest. I was diagnosed with autism last year, and then a month later I took up tennis. I didn't know that the LTA had Learning Disability competitions until recently. At the National Finals I noticed that they had an ii3 division (for players with autism but no intellectual disability). Is this something that the LTA will be taking forward? Does anyone know if there will be competitions for ii3 athletes included in the Learning Disability Regional Tournaments?
What is the LTA's official position on the ii3 division? I know that they do a lot in the ii1 division, and have lots of tournaments for those with an intellectual disability, but do they plan on taking forward the ii3 division as well and including it in the wider learning disability competition pathway?
I would be interested if anyone knew, because I enjoy playing tennis and would love to compete against others with the same disability as me, but I don't think that I would be eligible for the LTA regional competitions if players must have an IQ of 75 or less.

Hi Jonathan, welcome to the board and good to see a namesake here - I am also called Jonathan H in real life!!
Anyway, glad you find this thread useful - I personally have no wider knowledge around the areas you mention. Anna M's Dad, a top player in one of the categories, is a regular here so he may well know more about that level of detail!
Hope you stick around the board and feel you can join in more widely!
