I realise I said I wouldnt fixate on voting numbers this year, and I won't. But the first two months have seen a dramatic drop off
Jan with 46 and Feb with 53, saw 99 votes across the first two months of 2024
In 2025 we had 37 in Jan and 40 in Feb, a total of 77.
That is a 22-23% drop from last year.
I think the lack of new members plays a big part; it may also be down to the women players not doing amazing things so far this year, not sure if Indy has a view on that after his raising it last month?
I wonder also if people have become a little bored with this PoM process? Not much I can do about it other than carry on and hope British results reinvigorate it. The alternative is to stop it and that wouldnt make any real sense in the long run. I could change the format, but chose to make it shorter and sacrifice a few votes as a result, so am happy with that situation.
But any thoughts welcomed
Can you expand on the statement about new members not being allowed to join please? I had not heard of that.

Sorry, probably wrong word used - not able to join. Someone reported we hadn't had a single new member in around 6 months or certainly a long time - and that it might be a technical problem with the site. But it doesnt appear to be fixed and I suspect isnt someone knows how to fix?
Sheddie may have an idea, I think was The Addict or Indiana who pointed it out
Someone else pointed it out initially, and I check to see if it has been fixed every now and again. It's been several months now.
Yeah, last member joining was November 11th it looks like , so 4 months. Most new members sign up and then float away quite quickly; some seem to sign up and stay as just a reader of posts in the background, and some get involved. There was always a regular list of people each month and, in terms of this, I suspect a few joined in and voted sometimes. You cant tell - whether it deflated the numbers, I have no idea, but it feels like maybe a few each month may have been missed, probably not too many.
As the host's website and pricing page hasn't changed in 10 years it doesn't give me a great deal of confidence there is anyone working on the forum software to fix it.

Its sort of amazing the forum actually keeps going - Ive often thought is there any hosting body actually alive out there!

Maybe like me they never log in except to vote on one of the polls and, very occasionally, make some other comment.
Thanks for the clarification and thanks to all the others who chipped in with information.

cool - well thank you for taking part and supporting the polls! Loads more to come !
So here is the updated calendar for 2025 (subject to change at the whim of the organising committee i.e. me!!)
Apr PoM - Vote will take place Monday 28th April (after end of week 17 i.e this will be mid way through Madrid 1000 event, but given FO dates, I feel this is best option - plus not many Brits go far in Madrid!) - 4 week period
May PoM - Vote will take place Monday 26th May (after end of week 21 i.e start of the FO and end of FO qualies) - 4 week period
Jun PoM - Vote will take place Monday 30th June (after end of week 26 and Wimbledon qualies and as Wimbledon starts) - 5 week period
HALFWAY POINT IN THE TENNIS YEAR
Jul PoM - Vote will take place Monday 28th July (after end of week 30 i.e end of Washington 500 events) - 4 week period
Aug PoM - Vote will take place Monday 25th August (after end of week 34 and US Open qualies) - 4 week period
Sep PoM - Vote will take place Monday 29th Sept (after end of week 39 i.e mid way through the WTA China Open, as per this year - not ideal but otherwise we hit a 6 week period in Sep or October) - 5 weeks
Oct PoM - Vote will take place Monday 3rd November (after end of week 44 i.e end of Paris 1000 event) - 5 weeks
Nov PoM - Vote will take place Monday 1st December (after end of week 48) - 4 weeks
Dec PoM - Vote will take place Monday 29th December (after end of week 52) - 4 weeks
So we are down below 2022 levels and after year on year rises. Which is fine, it is what it is, but I fear the Forum Board will be asking serious questions about this and how we can push it forwards again.
On a serious note, if anyone has any ideas, they are very welcome - it may be it has become a little stale and I am open to change, even mid season if people think it will work to bring some voters back. If you are a voter who has gone away - 9 since last season per monthly vote on average - then let us know why.
Open to change, just want to keep the essence of a single PoM winner and that the winners and runners up qualify for the PoS. Any other ideas on how we get there will be welcomed, although not necessarily used! If any ideas do come forwards, if others could comment on them, that would be helpful, as I wish to keep quiet and listen rather than be seen to be defensive or disagree or holding my ground!
Interestingly, the number of views of the voting thread was something like 700 plus this month - half the past couple of months and well less than past years. I dont know if votes correlates with views at all, but if there is less interest in the threads at the moment, be keen to understand why

My immediate rhought was that having one of the most predictable winners from outset is going to lessen views - even Jack's nomination summary ended with a not entirely tongue in cheek "Game over".
Quite apart from voting, there are probably folk that normally dip in a fair deal ro see how it's going. I don't think - I wonder how much Jack is winning by - is such a pull.
Now probably rather more going on than that. And I will think about it more in the cold light of day. But to my mind the sheer inevitability of the winner has to be a factor in the lower number of views this month.
By the way, simply having predictable winners, in itself also probably cuts down votes a bit So in your January to March voting figures each year I would be wondering about how competitive the votes were each year, especially when just looking at 3 months.

Hi Indy - all very valid points, I guess ultimately we don't know. My main concern is to make sure it remains relevant and interesting to folks, as well as interesting and relevant to me/those running it.
Interestingly, this season at least, the number of nominations is a little down as well; in the past we have had a number of months where we hit the 20 plus barrier and get two rounds of votes, or close to 20 where I have feared we may end up with two rounds of votes (!), whereas this season we are in the low teens.
I wonder if that aligns with the competitiveness of the vote angle you raise.
