2025 British Tennis Forum Player of the Month and Season Awards - overview thread (for the Sir Andy Murray Trophy)

With Victoria being nominated this month, she becomes the 86th different player or team to be nominated so far this season for one or other of the PoM votes. 5 teams so far have been nominated although none have managed to gather many votes.

Whether any of them deserve a place in the wild card vote is something some may consider - the teams nominated so far this year have been:

Team GB Under 12 boys (nominated twice in separate months)
Team GB Junior World Cup Wheelchair
North West Junior Boys "Team"
Team GB Womens BJK Cup Team
Team GB Mens ITF World Tour "Team"

A couple of these aren't a team as such, more an amalgam of great efforts by players on a similar tournament structure. Which is fine and totally valid, and recognises a job well done from both players and coaching staff alike.

Unlike past years, where we have had big fluctuations in monthly voting figures, this year has been very consistent - per below table

Particularly the past few months. We have averaged around 38 over the year and seem to have settled on that the past month or few. Even changing the voting period length hasn't really impacted too much. September we ran for 2 1/2 days, October ran for 1 1/2 days. Both ended up with almost the same number of votes and pretty much bang on that average.

It would be great to see it back up to the heights of past year (last year in fact, with voting in the high 50's) and certainly to snuggle nicely into the 40's.

Player of the Season has generally run around 10 or so votes more than the PoM average over the season - I guess it attracts more interest and runs for a longer period , end to end, over the several rounds and thus draws a few people in. But if we can get 10 more for that and the PoS vote up into the high 40's, that would be good.

Once the play off vote for October is over, here is the updated calendar for 2025 (subject to change at the whim of the organising committee i.e. me!!).

Nov PoM - Vote will take place Monday 1st December - Tuesday 2nd December (after end of week 48) - 4 weeks nomination process

PoS Wildcard Nominations - window for nominations between Wednesday 3rd December and Sunday 21st December 2025. Note this year, there will be unlimited wildcard nominations and the vote will be organised to support that process)

Dec PoM - Vote will take place Monday 29th December - Tuesday 30th December (after end of week 52) - 4 weeks nomination process

PoS Wildcard vote - Thursday 1st - Friday 2nd Jan 2026

PoS Round One Vote - Saturday 3rd - Monday 5th Jan 2026

PoS Semi Final Vote - Tuesday 6th - Thursday 8th Jan 2026

PoS Final - Friday 9th to Sunday 11th Jan 2026 2026

And that will take us neatly into the start of the Australian Open 2026 (which starts on the 12th January!)

January 2026 PoM nominations will also open for business early in January 26.

The 2026 schedule will be posted once Player of the Season is all done and dusted and I have chance to work it all out

His nomination for November puts Cam onto 6 for the season, equal top with Fran and Julian/Lloyd.

Cam is the most nominated player by far not qualified for Player of the Season.

November is a quieter month than most others, maybe this will be his chance to put that right?!

for those following or interested, the wildcard nominations process will be open 3 weeks from tomorrow!

I really hope we get a decent number of players nominated - we will probably need 4 wildcards (TBD) and will have voting groups of 1 group per wildcard. So Im hoping we get at least 20 nominations come through. Im relying on folks to take part but, if things are slow, Ive got a list of 20 players I will nominate myself and will ensure we have at least that many players nominated for the votes.

I plan to nominate a player a day, but really hope that many of the ones I plan to nominate get nominated by someone else before I get there!

But more than anything, I hope people take part and that as many board
members as possible but forwards at least one nomination and maybe more.

I dont want people to be shy or wait for others to see if they do it- if someone comes to mind, after Wednesday 3rd Decembet, please just go ahead and add them to the list in the thread that I will create.

2 weeks left in November and then, once November PoM is done, the wildcard nominations process begins.

I have whittled my personal list of possible wild card nominations down to 12, but am hoping a lot more come from other posters!

I think we will need 3,4 or 5 wildcards in total. It depends on whether we get any players doing well in November PoM who have already qualified in previous months, and also on whether any of the GB number one slots change hands before season end - the most likely being boys singles where Oli Bonding may give way to Mark Ceban (noting Oli is qualified through a PoM vote anyway).

Not sure if Hamish and Lui are now done for the season, but it feels like the most titles battle is between Ben and Alicia.

Why is this in this thread - because it has a knock on effect into PoS that will become relevant in due course!
