Although the main draw starts tomorrow this is a week 3 event, acting as a warm-up for the Australian Open.   We had 3 players in qualifying and all were successful. Brooke Black has a tough draw though, taking on the Orange Bowl runner-up (who also won the previous J500 event in Mexico)

A very nervy service game where Hannah hit some double faults and saved numerous BPs but managed to take the first set 6-2

Hannah wins 6-2 7-5. Not without its difficulties but she got over the line and recovered well from a boomerang break. Well done Hannah and hopefully that will have shaken off some first match nerves! :)

Abolsutely excellent win from Brooke over the 5th seed and top-10 player, Yaneva

It's true that Yaneva is a real clay court player - her impressive results sheet recently that David listed was on the clay in the North American swing

But all the same, a super win

Mind you, the seeds and 'names' have been falling like flies there today - they've lost a host of top players in that first round

Mark next plays 5th seed Jagger Leach, who has teamed up again with Oli in the doubles. They played 3 tournaments together in the North American swing recently with modest success. Mark, Oli and Hannah are all on first at 11pm GMT

Three out of four wins overnight

Hannah came through in two sets - despite the seeds falling left, right and centre in this event

And so did Brooke - so good she managed to follow up on R1's mega win

Oli Bonding also won

And Mark lost, but in a very very tight match
