Weeks 3 & 4 - Australian Open - Main Draw - Melbourne (Hard)

Great final, thrilled for Maddy. She was absolutely crushed after the US Open final loss all those years ago, but she got her moment eventually.

Yes, today she turned up   .

We share a birthday. Madison is slightly younger.

Confirmed QF line up:

Sabalenka (1) vs Payluchenkova (27)
Gauff (3) vs Badosa (11)

Keys (19) vs Svitolina (28)
Swiatek (2) vs Navarro (8)

kiss of death but I am fancying Keys to take this

Now you just need to make that work on Brits!

Ive noticed loads of typos and spelling errors in the bbc reports this week - not just tennis, football as well

Great win for tennis. So good to see someone in her age group finally come good. Just shows if you persevere and have the talent then you can achieve great things.

Also don't care much for Sabalenka. That scream is just ridiculous and as usual in women's tennis a completely ridiculous bathroom break after just half an hour in a deliberate attempt to disrupt the opponent.

Sabalenka shook hands, congratulated Keys and then banged her racket on the floor before hurling it at her chair. I couldn't see if the racket survived.

 It didn't biggrin

I saw a very beat up racket smile

But it was quite understandable and she was very gracious and funny in her 'defeat' speech, and to Madi as they stood there, it seemed to me, so I really don't know why the commentators were making such a thing about it

Give me that any time over Serena ( & crowd ) making Naomi Osaka's US Open triumph such a bitter sweet moment

That's one of the most impressive women's finals I've seen in years. Both played some incredible tennis, I don't think any player on tour could've beaten Keys today. Such a lovely story! Her love for the sport really comes through.

Sabalenka gave Keys a big hug, was very gracious in both the runner up speech and press conference. She was upset - I don't think she did anything bad. I didn't use to be a fan, but I find her banter and humour in general really refreshing and it's a great look for the WTA. A strong player, consistently reaching the later parts of tournaments, charismatic and charming - just what the tour needs.
