Not a British player but I see Leolia Jeanjean who is of some interest has reached the 2nd round  in qualifying.

I mentioned Jeanjean here as she was of some Iinterest in the past. Now she  has qualified and of all people she plays Jodie

I saw your previous post on Jeanjean. What is the British interest? Forgive me if it is obvious, but I'm not one of the ones on here who knows everything about every player.

Sorry for being a negative nelly, but the racket throwing from Harriet was, frankly, embarrassing. I counted it happening 4 times by the end of the first game in the second set, and EVERY time she did it, she was ahead in the match!

The fourth time I couldn't help but be embarrassed for her. That crowd must've thought she was such a petulant child. As a staunch follower and fan of Harriet, it was frustrating and disappointing to see.

As others have said on this thread and before - she has pretty much maxed out her game in terms of groundstrokes, movement, etc, but if the second serve and, just as importantly, how she stays present and focused on the court doesn't change, they'll be no ranking advances for her.

She does seem pretty immature for her age at times.

Maybe should get out more rather than the super pro early to bed etc.

Watched all three of her matches this week and wanted to cheer her on so badly, but I find the constant negative reactions to her own shotmaking hard to swallow. If she wasnt a Brit she would be one most people would actively root against when she is in this mode.
Sad to see honestly.

Yes - all this 'my body is a temple' stuff may be a bit OTT biggrin

There is no direct British interest (as far as I know)

She's simply a French player with a rather moving back story, one young girl being taken advantage of by the system, with very questionable actions by the FFT, and ending up in a pretty dire situation and managing to get herself out, just about, years later....

And I think that resonated with people on here, in its own right, and especially after there was some talk about the LTA, and favourites, and what have you

Yes, I have loosely followed her since , was it your post CD,   describing her background ?  Also she  was quite a star in the French open a few years back.  Thought she might kick on from there but it's been more of a 'plod' for Leolia.  I hope she does well.
