Krejcikova has withdrawn so presume that might mean that Harriet's into the main draw now
No unfortunately the entry list is based on early December rankings with Rebecca Marino being the beneficiary. Marino has also taken precedence over the now more highly ranked Parks and Golubic. The younger Kudermetova is now ranked 57 in the world but is in qualifying. If she qualifies and given the right draw you could see Kudermetova continuing the trend in recent years of surprise semi finalists at the AO. Remember Jo Konta in 2016. As a result of Krejcikova pulling out Yastremska became the 32nd seed which seems ridiculous as she has not won a main tour match since Wimbledon. It will also be the second year in a row that the reigning Wimbledon ladies champion will have little or no impact on the following years AO.
Lola has just won a mammoth tie break to take it to a third. She has a huge serve and is very aggressive and could be very good when she gets the consistency and mentality right.
Heather had two match points but they were both saved with aces. Nothing she could do. Lola had half a dozen set points and had led 5-2 in the breaker.
Scoreline was far closer than the set actually was, it was entirely on the Serbs racket and she made a hash of serving for it at *5-4. Hev did a good job scrambling but Lola hit an error on pretty much every set point she missed.
Tough ask now.
Well done Harriet, got a bit squeaky in the second but made it.
Wonderful mental toughness from Heather to take that third set by the scruff of the neck after getting SO close in the second
Mind you, Lola's game really suits her - she loves an opponent with pace, that she uses so well to redirect, and then forces that opponent to go for a bit too much, in exasperation
