Alfie and Gordon took the mens doubles title in Rome, good week for Alfie once more.
Tokito Oda won the Japan Open mens singles, but it was a tough battle with De La Puente, 7-5 in the third set.
The World Team Cup, in Turkey, runs from 6th May as the next big event and then, also in May, we have Series 1 events in Rome, Barcelona and Open de Royan, as lead ins to the French Open. Those events will tell us who is in form for Roland Garros and has the clay wheels to take the big one before we turn to the Grass in Eastbourne, Roehampton and Wimbledon.
Id not checked the world rankings for April 14 and missed two big moves: Alfie had gone to number one in the mens singles rankings, replacing Oda who must have had points dropping off.
And in mens doubles, Gordon Reid went to number one alone from Alfie who drops to two.
Congrats to both of them.
However, in singles, Oda should have super series points coming on this week and , I think, will go straight to number one again - with it being a bank holiday, not sure if the ITF will update the lists today or tomorrow, but whenever it is, we shall see.
As expected, Oda replaces Alfie as WR 1 in mens singles.
But Alfie also replaces Gordon as WR 1 in mens doubles, although both have the same points tally. Havent checked detail but some sort of count back going on.
ETA - Alfie has only played 9 events versus Gordons 10, hence the lead on count back - hes got his total in fewer events

In the Series 2 event in Kobe, Lucy Shuker and Greg Slade progressed to the semis in both singles and doubles in the womens and quad events, respectively.
Both have higher ranked/seeded semifinal opponents in singles and will have done very well if they can progress further over the weekend.
Congrats to Greg Slade for reaching the final of the Kobe Open beating second seeded Silva in the semis. He also won the doubles semi and then received a doubles final walkover to take the title.
He plays the singles final tomorrow- good luck, Greg
The BNP Paribas World Team Cup starts on Tuesday and the LTA has published the British team squads for the 4 events:
Mens team - Alfie and Gordon are not in the squad, which is a real shame and probably means we cant win this year, depends on other squads. Our team is the #'2 3,4 and 5
Men's Captain - Alex ****ram
Ben Bartram - WR 22
Dahnon Ward - WR 39
Andrew Penney - WR 26
Womens team - we have our top 3 players in the team for the women
Quad team - we have our 1,2 and 4 ranked players, with Gary Cox in the team over Oliver Cox, his brother
Quads Captain - Martyn Whait
Andy Lapthorne - WR 5
Greg Slade - WR 13
Gary Cox - WR 52
Juniors team - we have a full strength team here also and a chance of a medal
Juniors Captain - Imran Aswat
Ruben Harris - WR 7
Lucas de Gouveia - WR 20
Matthew Knoesen - WR 14
Will Barton - WR 16
Team Leader: Erik Koers
Relative to other countries, the juniors are probably not as strong as Australia or USA, but could get a podium. The mens team will do well to get a podium with Alfie and Gordon missing and the womens will also be some way behind NL, Japan and China if they put out half decent teams.
The quad team probably gives us the best chance of the highest level medal; NL will be much stronger than us but a silver could be on the cards
Quad - seeded 3rd behind NL and Turkey, albeit equal on ranking points with Turkey.
Men - seeded 5th behind Japan, NL, France and Brazil
Juniors - seeded 4th behind Belgium, Brazil and USA
So, per above, best chances appear to lie with our quad team to get onto the podium
The seedings have been finalised with todays rankings list and Britains quad team is now seeded 2, which means we can avoid NL in the opening group stage. Turkeys top player, Kaplan withdrew and , as such, the home nation fell down the seedings, with Brazil getting third seeding spot.

And the draw is out: the men have the toughest route to the semis, in a group with higher ranked Brazil. The women also face Brazil in what will be tough but winnable in both cases. The juniors also face Brazil but, with 2 going through, should make the semis. Despite being seeded 2, out quad team face USA and Australia in a tough group, but we should have enough to progress by winning the group.
In the mens and womens draw, the teams are split into four round-robin groups and the top team from each group will advance to the knockout semi-finals, with the remaining teams contesting play-off draws.
In the quad and junior draws the top two nations from each of two round-robin groups will advance to the knockout semi-finals, with the remaining nations going into play-off draws to decide final positions.

In the world rankings, the womens number one slot for the Brits is suddenly a lot tighter than a few months back. Lucy Shuker has gradually lost places and is now 18th, whilst Cornelia Oosthuizen has slowly pulled herself to 20th. Points wise, it is still a small gap for Cornelia to close and I doubt it will happen anytime soon, although she will have less to defend than Lucy in the British grass events at Roehampton and Wimbledon and that could see a possible change of top Briton.
