The LTA were suspending a lot of players for things at the time, Evo and Dan Smethurst for a night out during Wimbledon, Naomi Broady for posing for a photo next to a condom machine, David Rice for eating pizza.....

I've never understood it .. because I was never good enough I guess, as opposed to many of these players who found playing too easy to have respect for those who were trying to help them fulfil their potential. And they're in every sport .. a friend of mine played in goal for England schoolboys but stopped playing because his club made him train 3 days a week .. I was so pleased that Evo finally fulfilled his potential before it was too late ..

I have mixed feelings on this. One the one hand, British tennis, other than Murray was in a pitous state and many British pros were lazy and spoilt. But on the other hand, the treatment of that group, especially the 'outrage' over Broady taking a picture next to a condom machine was hardly fair

Yes, the Naomi punishment was particularly ridiculous though in the end what was more of a pity was that her and her family let the fairly light ( if very silly ) punishment so influence her career in the years that followed by their reaction.
Forcefully object / appeal but don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

The Broady family bravely decided that it was more important that the children grew up and had fun as well as perfecting their tennis: it seems to have turned out very well for those children. The LTA (maybe correctly?) aren't interested in children as children, they are interested in the route to victory. If the winning destroys the person, that is simply an irritating side effect. More children should be saved from the sausage machine, in my opinion.
Mr Evans is also a good example of what good can come even if one does ones growing up whilst in the limelight.
And Mr Willis seems to be another victim of the "where did all go wrong, George" syndrome: despite not reaching the potential heights that his tennis could possibly have done, he seems to have grown into a relatively successful person.
I feel sad that Naomi missed a few opportunities to represent her country as I think she would've thrived in that environment, but at some point, much like Liam, it became her decision and not her Father's.
