RE: Andy's competitors-French Open (weeks 22 and 23)

Today's results added into the table. Everyone in the table lost today, however, none of them were behind Andy so there is no change to his position.

Pins at the ready for tomorrow when we want Djokovic to lose against Haas, and Martin, who we want to lose against Ollie Rochus.

(Also cheering on Stepanek as he takes on one of Tim's closest threats).

I tell you, I will have to join Stepanek's fan club, I have to support him so much.

Obviously my pin-sticking for Djokovic did not work last time. Maybe it is not a good enough wax model, I'll make another out of finest beeswax and see if that works.

bad news today, both Djokovic and Martin won their matches leaving them only one win away from overtaking Andy.

Moreover, Ramirez Hidalgo is hovering just off the end of the table and another two wins would see him overtake as well.

More pin work required please!

(in other news, it turns out Stepanek isn't so keen to remove Tim's competitors as he is Andy's and so he lost to Benneteau )

I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription to Radek's fan club. I can always join again next time he faces an Andy competitor.

Martin faces Benneteau next, could go either way. Djokovic faces either Blake or Monfils. Not sure I would like to call that one either, Novak will have had much more rest.

I'll sharpen my pins but they don't seem to be doing much good this tourney.

Martin & Benneteau are on court - going with serve.  Complicated this one: We want Benneteau to win, then fail in the next round. So....Come on Julien! Quarter finals would be a brilliant achievement!

So is Ramirez- Hidalgo, against Ljubicic.

Martin's out! Retired!

So that's one threat to Andy in this round out of the way. On to Djokovic!

Benneteau is now a threat in the quarters.

Ramirez- Hidalgo is a break down in the first!

phew, thank goodness Martin's out.

Now we need Djokovic to lose agianst Mofils. Then Ljubicic to get to the semis, taking out Ramirez-Hidalgo and Benneteau on the way. Not asking much!

Ljubicic won the first set 6-3, pretty quickly! (and is pressuring R-H's first service game of the second set) Keep it up Ivan!

R-H won the second.  Come on Ivan! we're relying on you. Show 'em why you're number 4 in the world!

Third set to Ljubicic. The pins seem to be working - wiggle them around a bit more.  Now then, just one more set, Ivan.

See how much better they work when you wiggle them Drew, 5-2, Ivan serving for the match!

Well done all those wielding pins, same again for Djokovic please (in fact he is more urgent). So evil thoughts to him, happy thoughts to Monfils!

Well wiggled!  .....and then there were two!  Just Djokovic & Benneteau to go!

(Imoen, when you next update the table, Martin & Djokovic need to be moved up a few places).

So, Allez Monfils! (translation: "Come on my son" - maybe Gael's a Londoner?)

Meanwhile, Rafa's lost a set! 1 all now.  - could Hewitt provide an upset?
