Given the depleted tournament list (and level of the tournaments as well), this month provides an amazing chance for a lesser known PoM winner and also for 1 or 2 players not qualified (and maybe not expected!) to make it to the Player of the Season vote starting in exactly a month.

Despite the relative lack of play these first two weeks and almost no play the last two weeks of the month, it still provides plenty to potentially follow!

On the week 51(commencing 16th Dec) entry lists, I can only see Giles, Emile (both in Bali) and Ryan (Qatar) playing at main draw level, currently. No women appear in the main draw lists that I could see; juniors are done by then as are the wheelchair players.

The British Tour Finals and TS Tour Finals will be taking place, however, but it will be a relatively very skinny week.

Not sure who will play w.c. 23rd (if anyone) and if no one does play, I may move the December vote forwards from the 29th currently to whenever play is done - if the Week 52 23rd Dec week has no players, there is no point waiting and it gives more time around early Jan then for the PoS process to kick off

Reaching the pointy end of week 1 of 4 (or maybe week 1 of 3 even, lets see!).

Anyway, juniors reach the semis In Loughborough, the Bradenton juniors are depleted but still some action, and in ITF and WTA world, we have a little group still going of women players more than men this week.

Im sure DFs Friday list will take a lot less time for her to compile this week! Nonetheless, if anyone takes your fancy for a PoM nomination, you know the process! And remember, PoM is about the month and not the year - so maybe the bar for inclusion that you consider takes into account the relative amount and level of activity around at the moment, who knows?!

Looks like Giles Hussey, Charlie Robertson, Emile Hudd, Oli Tarvet and Ewen Lumsden prefer their xmases warm down in Bali or their Turkey roasted in Antalya. All on entry list for week 52.

If that holds, looks like this month will go the full 4 weeks

Small but perfectly formed group this week

Lets see who can push on and maybe make our list?

Titles and finals starting to come through in week 1, if anyone catches your eye, put them on the list (first on the list!). We need a list (of more than one!) to have a PoM vote, and I do like a good vote, as you all know!

Nomination

1. Zech Hamrouni - won the J100 title in Loughborough for his first title in singles at this level, previously won a J30 in 2023. Will rise over 100 places to top 300 with this win. And apparently a nice guy as well!

2

3

etc

Felt like it was worth recognising someone as no more may appear this month. I will let others decide if the girls finalists are also deserving as I dont know enough!

Someone who's more clued in to what's going on with juniors than me may be able to add more to Daniela's narrative (or I may be able to do it next week when I can see her new ranking) but I felt she deserved a nomination.

(I'm also planning on nominating Jodie if no one else does, but am waiting to see how she gets on today!)

2. Daniela Piani - capping off a breakout year by winning her fourth J100 title of 2024, at Loughborough. This should take her to a new CH.

3.

Hoping Jodie needs a narrative update, but too impatient to wait for her doubles today!

3. Jodie Burrage - for reaching the final in the singles and the semi-final in the doubles (with Freya Christie) at the W100 in Dubai. This will take her back into the top 200 in singles and top 250 in doubles. In addition to being excellent results in themselves, Jodie has shown a lot of improved mental toughness: when she's had moments of getting frustrated, she's been able to settle down, figure out hiow to counter what's annoying her and turn sets around.

4. Stefan Cooper - age 28 - just won his first ITF title - the doubles at the M15 in Mexico. They also serve who only stand and wait. (And he's quite a fun guy to watch)

It doesn't quite deserve a full nomination (sorry, Isabelle) but as a sort of 'quasi/semi/associate' nomination', well done to Isabelle Britton (age 16) who's one of my little faves, who's just beaten WTA 1195 player, Mia Chudejova, 6-2 6-2 in the Cardiff UTR
