Seriously, if Hannah can't beat Welles, I will ..... I will...... well, I'm not actually sure what I'll do but it'll be pretty drastic biggrin

Welles is JWR 276, born 2010

And, tbh, she played very well in that match - far more on the front foot than Hannah who was rather scrambling around for a lot of it

But, Hannah was solid when she needed to be and got the job done

(Do wish her coaches would get her to step in sometimes and take the ball a little earlier, though, and not fall off the ball when she hits her attacking forehand)

Hannah will now play fellow-junior Wakana Sonobe, age 16, who beat Mimi and then lost in the US Open Juniors final to Mika

If the plan was to come here and get some match practice against experienced pros on green clay to help her prepare for an Orange Bowl defence then that's not going so well. Although Sonobe may provide a challenge for her, I doubt playing junior WCs is what she's here for. hmm

I'd rather she lost a match against an experienced player having learned a few things she can apply next week than played a match where she learned nothing.

So the answer is simple - she'll just have to beat Sonobe - simples

and then she'll get either 25 year-old Pedretti or Cate McNally, your perfect experienced pros opponents
