I hadnt realised Jodie has never won a title above W50 level before, that surprised me.

She won Croissy-Beaubourg W60 last year, her other titles were two W25 and two W15. She's won much better doubles titles though.

Ha, never realised there was such a thing as W60! I actually meant at W75 level and should have said that but assumed level down was W50 and so said never won above W50 so hence how it came out

Nonetheless, even if W60is the highest for her, that surprises me still.

With quite a few changes for this year, with Wx's now being tournaments where the winner gets x points rather than x being the prize money, one could argue that last year's W60 title was slightly bigger than this W75.

Both had/have 60K prize money. But W60s last year gave 80 points to the winner, whereas W75s this year, now by definition, give 75 points to the winner. So, in practical terms this would not really have been bigger.

The W60 is now the W75 - they were recategorised this year and before that all we had were W60s (40s etc) i.e. no W75

So she won what is now a W75

Excuse my ignorance!! I assume she will be able to use a protected ranking to get into the main draw of the Aus open?

A shame she couldnt lift the title but Maria is classic player that Jodie struggle against so not a surprise at this stage of her comeback.

A really good tournament for Jodie at this stage. Did anyone see the match? I'm interested to know if the second set was her running out of steam, or frustration getting the better of her, or just beaten by the better player on the day
