Liss and Lui book their semi-final places. Will couldn't make it a guaranteed finalist as he goes out despite fighting back from *1-6 down in the MTB to level at 7-7* before ultimately going down 8-10. Luca also went out in a MTB
QF: Lui Maxted/Pedro Vives (TCU) [5-8] d. Petar Jovanovic/Benito Sanchez Martinez (Mississippi St) [3] 6-3 7-5 QF: Timo Legout/Lucas Brown (Texas) d. Will Jansen/Bryce Nakashima (OSU) 5-7 6-3 [10-8]
Lui and Pedro face the unbeaten Legout (24 singles and doubles college matches played, 24 won) for a place in the final. The winner of this match has to be favourite to take the title.
Gavin Young/Benjamin Kittay (Michigan) v Youcef Rihane/Alex Bulte (Florida St.) [5-8] Lui Maxted/Pedro Vives (TCU) [5-8] v Timo Legout/Lucas Brown (Texas)

Liss has to play probably the strongest doubles pairing left in, but Liss and Rachel are a new partnership who are only playing their 2nd tournament and are now 8-0 together. The winner of this match I reckon goes on to win the title. Rachel is a top 10 singles player but for some reason, rumoured injury, didn't attempt to qualify for the singles.
Alicia Dudeney/Rachel Gailis (UF) v Melodie Collard/Elaine Chervinsky (Virginia) Ava Hrastar/DJ Bennett (Auburn) v Olivia Center/Kate Fakih (UCLA) [5-8]
Both women's SFs went to 3 sets. Vidmanova was the first through 4-6 6-2 6-2. Seconds later Sofia's conqueror, DJ Bennett, won 6-1 2-6 7-5. I still think Sofia would've beaten Bennett had she played to the level of any of her previous performances over the fall. By making the final and being American, DJ Bennett qualifies for the US Open WC collegiate play-off next year.
The doubles may be a while yet as after many complaints about the scheduling over the last couple of days they're playing the men's singles after the women's singles instead of all singles at the same time. Women's doubles will follow on the same 2 courts, followed by men's doubles.
The men's final will be an all American affair between the pre-season Nos 1 & 2, Baris v Zheng. Zheng got through after Legout retired in the first set, which may have implications for Lui's doubles later.
Dom Inglot won this in 2009 and Paul Jubb took the singles a few years back. Nell Miller won the womens doubles (what happened to her, shes only 24 now so sad she didnt follow through to a pro career). Is that it?
In which case, Luis achievement is good and a title would be a rare cause for celebration!
Lloyd Glasspool won the doubles in 2015 and Eden Richardson in 2018 in her 1st year at college (and was runner-up in the year Nell won it).
Nell tried pro tennis but it didn't work out.
Thanks, I can see their names now and was aware of both - youd told me previously! Eden also seems to have not taken the pro route, looks like she is coaching at a college in the states?
