The men's QFs are also now in place. Worryingly for us, while Lui was first off court, his partner was last singles off court after a 2.41 match and is back on for the doubles shortly. Why they didn't schedule Vives in the first batch of singles when they knew he was in doubles is beyond me.
2 players unranked in the pre-season rankings, but seeded here, make it into the men's QFs. The men's could be anyones but I think I'll go for Legout to win it. He's 12-0 in his college career. Lui played Zheng at the beginning of the month losing 6-7(4) 6-7(3)
The QFs are #- Corey Craig (Jr, Florida St.) [9-16] v #26 Dhakshineswar Suresh (Jr, Wake Forest) [9-16] #1 Ozan Baris (Sr, Michigan St.) v #15 Jay Friend (Sr, Arizona) [5]
#55 Spencer Johnson (Jr, UCLA) v #- Timo Legout (Fr, Texas) [9-16] #39 Lui Maxted (Sr, TCU) [6] v #2 Michael Zheng (Sr, Columbia) [2]
With just Lui's result to come (yet to start), we have a mixed bag in doubles. The result of the day goes to Alicia & Rachel extending their season record to 7 played, 7 won as they knock out the No 1 seeds.
Doubles R16: Gavin Young/Benjamin Kittay (Michigan) d. Oli Tarvet/Stian Klaassen (USD) [1] 6-4 6-0 R16: Aadarsh Tripathi/Alexander Hoogmartens (UCLA) d. Billy Blaydes/Will Nolan (AUB) 4-6 6-3 [10-6]
R16: Luca Pow/Luciano Tacchi (WFU) [4] d. Facundo Yunis/Jip van Assendelft (Indiana) 6-7(4) 7-5 [10-4]
R16: Lui Maxted/Pedro Vives (TCU) [5-8] v Vasco Prata/Matias Iturbe (Charlotte)
R16: Will Jansen/Bryce Nakashima (OSU) d. Cooper Williams/Theo Winegar (Duke) [5-8] 6-4 7-6(1)
That's right. The way Lui and Pedro are going it'll be 3 mens doubles before too long as they dish out a 1st set bagel in 20 mins. That'll add to the Friday feeling.
Good to see Jake and JPJ here to support the TCU lads. Once a frog, always a frog.

Luis only ITF doubles title was in august - with Zheng as his partner. So they obviously know each others games.

Baylor is in Texas, right? But not home to Texas or TCU?
QF: Lui Maxted/Pedro Vives (TCU) [5-8] v Petar Jovanovic/Benito Sanchez Martinez (Mississippi St) [3] QF: Will Jansen/Bryce Nakashima (OSU) v Timo Legout/Lucas Brown (Texas)
----
QF: Alicia Dudeney/Rachel Gailis (UF) v Irina Balus/Elizabeth Coleman (Duke) QF: Melodie Collard/Elaine Chervinsky (Virginia) v Carson Tanguilig/Susanna Maltby (North Carolina) [5-8]
QF: Jade Otway/Isabel Pascual (TCU) [5-8] v Ava Hrastar/DJ Bennett (Auburn) QF: Olivia Center/Kate Fakih (UCLA) [5-8] v Gabriella Broadfoot/Maddy Zampardo (NC State) [2]

Baylor is the name of the university in Waco. Baylor was the name of one of the University's founders. TCU is in Fort Worth. University of Texas is in Austin.

Thanks - shame no Baylor players left, a bit of hometown support always adds to the spice
Most of the singles QF were a damp squib being won very easily. Sofia and Grace's conquerors play each other in the semis.
So the SFs are #26 Dhakshineswar Suresh (Jr, Wake Forest) [9-16] v #1 Ozan Baris (Sr, Michigan St.) #- Timo Legout (Fr, Texas) [9-16] v #2 Michael Zheng (Sr, Columbia) [2]
#32 DJ Bennett (Sr, Auburn) v #16 Julia Garcia Ruiz (Sr, Oklahoma) [9-16] #12 Julia Fliegner (Sr, Michigan) [7] v #2 Dasha Vidmanova (Sr, Georgia) [2]
Baris seems to have found his form after a bad start to the season and I would have him beating Suresh. Legout I think will prevent it being a final of the pre-season top 2. Garcia Ruiz and Vidmanova should have too much for their opponents and will make the final. Vidmanova has eased her way through what, on paper, was a very difficult draw.
