RE: Week 47: NCAA Div 1 Ind Singles & Doubles Championships, Waco, TX, USA - Hard

Lui was bossing his match until he got to serve for the set. But he got the set with his second game serving for the set. 6-4 0-0*

I'm not sure the camera is going to last the match. A gust of wind knocked it and it's listing quite badly. Feeling quite seasick.

Lui is an All-American. Wins 6-4 6-1.
Up next for Lui is the winner of Rafa's match.

I hope that Raffaello is on the same court that Roan and Sofia lost on is not a bad omen.

They got 27 of the 32 seeds through into round 2. Not sure how round 2 went, but that doesnt seem a bad effort from the seeding folks, certainly not compared to most pro events

Maybe more luck of the draw. The way seedings are done is a joke and incentivise players to not play once they've qualified for the championships as they are penalised in their ranking score for any losses, so better not to play. Most of the top seeds have played very few matches. Oli doesn't even have a full compliment of wins, which partly explains why he is only 7th seed. Its notable that most of the seeds that were lowly ranked in the pre-season rankings and got seeded off the back of a handful of wins at the All-Americans have been knocked out.

Winners meet in next round

Womens doubles:
R32: Alicia Dudeney & Rachel Gailis (UF) v Lily Jones/Jessica Bernales (Michigan)
Winners potentially play the #1 seed in next round
R32: Grace Piper & Lily Fairclough (USC) v Liubov Kostenko/Cristina Tiglea (Baylor) [5-8]

R32: Given Roach & Alejandra Cruz (GT) v Jade Otway/Isabel Pascual (TCU) [5-8]
R32: Savannah Dada-Mascoll & Isabella Romanichen (APPST) v Ava Hrastar/DJ Bennett (Auburn)

R32: Lily Hutchings & Maria Berlanga (TU) v Gabriella Broadfoot/Maddy Zampardo (NC State) [2]
Scores in the morning but doubles going pretty much as expected. Doubles wins for all the men with just Henry and Lui left to play
Lily+ lost despite being the better team for a set and a half. Given+ also lost. Grace+ is a set and a break to the good.
