Roan will be hugely disappointed to have lost that from 4-1 40-15* but he goes out on a 3rd set tie-break 1-7. But he gave the 4th seed one almighty scare.
Our most likely chance of success in singles goes out at the first hurdle. Although it will go down as an upset it was always going to be a 50/50 match. Brutal match up for R1.
R64: Radu Papoe (Cornell) d. Oli Tarvet (USD) 2-6 6-4 6-3
Today is the round of 32 for singles. The winners today will receive All-America honours. Doubles starts today.
Our remaining men are in the same quarter of the draw, but Jamie is in the opposite half of the that quarter to the other two.
R32: Raffaello Papajcik (Jr, Denver) v Maxi Homberg (Sr, Pepperdine) R32: Lui Maxted (Sr, TCU) [6] v Luca Staeheli (Sr, NC State) R32: Jamie Connel (Sr, FSU) v Thomas Paulsell (Sr, Georgia) [9-16]
----
R32: Sofia Johnson (Sr, ODU) [8] v DJ Bennett (Sr, Auburn)
R32: Grace Piper (Sr, USC) v Julia Garcia Ruiz (Sr, Oklahoma) [9-16]
Sofia's match is too close to call. The other seeded matches I'd expect to go with the seeds. If Raffaello can beat Jonah, there's no reason why Raffaello can't beat the pre-season #103.

Thats good to see! He actually has a world ranking of around 2200 and has played the odd ITF, qualies, this year, but not a name I would have been familiar with - his junior career didnt include much of note.
Raffaello saved 6 match points in a match lasting 3 hours 39mins, coming back from 15-40 down in each of his last 2 service games in the second set. He is the first player in Denver men's programme history to ever win a singles match at the NCAAs.
Yes, Sofia's opponent is who beat Gabia the other week.
Sofia started dreadfully giving away a 0-4* lead. Not by being overplayed just making too many errors. She got over her nerves, upped her level and was outplaying Bennett to pull it back to 4-4*. But then gave away the last 2 games to lose the set 4-6. DJ is getting coached after every point. Sofia is being left to it. 4-6 1-1*
Paulsell appears to be getting revenge for Jamie beating him at the regionals with Jamie losing the 1st set 2-6, but Jamie is fighting back. 2-6 4-1*
Grace is fighting hard, but lost a 1st set breaker 6-7(1) 0-0*
A poor performance from an out of sorts Sofia. She was way off her level today. For large parts she looked like someone that didn't want to be out there, which I'm sure is not the case. I think she'll have regrets about this. She falls 4-6 2-6.
