Can we play the doubles to give us some match practice?

You know wolf, I was thinking exactly the same thing!

I guess the Canadians wont fancy playing though so presume unlikely!

We have to hope the team go on and beat Slovakia - they should hope to.

Italy and Poland feels like a fifty match to me, not sure Iga is on top form - it feels to me, if we reach the final, it will come down to the doubles if we are to win.

Part of me hopes Heather and Liv get to play Tuesday and , of course, win and get on the match court - playing their first match in the final will be tough!

I think Emma playing first is taking the pressure off Katie to a certain extent and helping her play more freely.

Edit: Just realised Katie said exactly this afterwards!

Not wishing to tempt faith, but if we get past Slovakia, who do you think would give us the best chance of winning the cup. Poland or Italy?. Im not sure! I m erring towards Poland.

Remarkably Sramkova who is  Slovakia's leading player has never won a match in the Grand Slams. However with a live ranking of 43 she is far and away the highest ranked player in this category. She has had a  successful run during the autumn.Remember that Sonay beat her to win her WTA title in Tunisia.

Swiatek hasn't played doubles on the tour since 2021, although she was runner-up at Rloand Garros that year (with Mattek-Sands). But often in the BJK Cup and similar team tournaments the top singles players seem to perform well in doubles.
Paolini and Errani on the other hand are an established doubles pair and would hard to beat so playing Poland might be our best chance. Harriet (with Diane Parry) did beat them in the USO so not impossible. Slovakia first though !

Bronzetti is leading Linette a set and 4-2, against the rankings. Got to imagine the Italians are looking favourites as it stands, if they win this rubber and with their strong doubles pairing.

Mihalikova the Slovak doubles player won the 2015 Australian junior singles beating Katie Swan in the final. Never made it as a singles player in the senior game.

Bronzetti won. With Swiatek having a 3-0 record against Paolini this looks likely to go down to the doubles.

Paolini takes the first set off Iga 6-3. This could all be over shortly.Italy up for this. Wanting to avenge their defeat last year.

Iga pulls a set back 6-4. All down to the third set. Very tight match.
