Italy are first through to the SF, as following defeat for Cocciaretto Jasmine Paolini wins her singles and doubles with Sara Errani. They will play the winners of Poland vs Czech Republic, coming up later.

Quick question. If Leylah plays the singles against Katie as expected, does she go into the doubles after a break? Just thinking that the longer Katie can keep her on court the better if it comes down to a deciding doubles, where the Canadians are the stronger team.

 The rules state that there is to be a maximum gap of 30 minutes between the singles and doubles (unless the referee decides otherwise).

 Poland through after Iga plays the Jasmine role with singles and doubles wins after they fell behind after the first singles. Two long singles matches again for Poland with Iga beating Noskova 7-5 in the 3rd.
